Residents to get live insight into police work

Residents across Lancashire are to be given a live behind-the-scenes insight into the work of a police Operations Support Unit.

On Monday, officers from East Lancashire’s Operations Support Unit will be taking to Facebook and Twitter.

Operations Support Units are front line police departments comprising of uniformed police officers with a wide range of specialist skills.

Their day to day activities include executing drugs warrants, searching for stolen property, and assisting in public order incidents, amongst many other duties.

Sgt Craig Kelshaw from East OSU said: “The whole aim is to raise awareness of the diverse and complex role of the Operations Support Unit.”
