Reports of body found in Blackburn canal as area taped off by police

A forensic tent has been set up close to a canal in Blackburn following reports of a body in the water.

Police were called to the Leeds Liverpool Canal close to Warwick Court shortly before 9am this morning (August 5).

Officers quickly cordoned off the area and a forensic tent was set up.

It has now been confirmed that police were responding to reports a body had been found in the canal.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "We were called at shortly before 9am today (Wednesday, August 5) to a report of a body in the Leeds Liverpool Canal close to Warwick Court.

"Police are at the scene and enquiries are ongoing."

No further details have been released at this stage.
