Racially motivated hate crime in Longridge sparks police appeal

An appeal has been launched to identify a man following a religiously or racially motivated hate crime in Longridge.

A vehicle was sprayed with "offensive material" as it was parked in a car park in Whittingham Road sometime overnight between November 8 and 9.

Police say they have already carried out a number of enquiries and they have now released an image of a man they would like to speak to.

Sgt Stuart Banks, of the Ribble Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "I would like to make it clear that Lancashire Constabulary does not tolerate hate of any form and we are taking this matter extremely seriously.

"We have already made a number of enquiries as part of this investigation but we now need to speak to the man in the image who we believe can assist us.

"I would ask anybody who recognises him to contact police. I would also appeal directly to the man in the image, if he sees this appeal, to make contact with us."
