Probe continues into Ribbleton baby girl’s injuries

An investigation is continuing into how an eight week old baby girl in Ribbleton, Preston, came to suffer serious injuries.

The tot was taken by ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital, police said, after paramedics were called to an address in the early hours of Monday.

Officers were contacted by staff at the Royal Preston Hospital after she was diagnosed with injuries including a bleed on the brain

She was transferred to Manchester Children’s Hospital where she is said to be in a stable condition.

The injuries are still being treated as unexplained and detectives from Preston’s public protection unit are piecing together the circumstances.

Three people from Preston, a 21-year-old woman, a 25-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman, who were arrested on suspicion of wounding and neglect and have been bailed until Tuesday, January 27.
