A motorcyclist who triggered a police chase before causing a collision with a police car has been jailed for 18 months.
Stephen Anthony Sergeant, 31, of Waterloo Road, Ashton-on-Ribble, Preston, had been seen speeding at more than 70mph along narrow 20 mph residential roads around the Ribbleton and Lea areas of Preston, Judge Sara Dodd was told.
Preston Crown Court heard between 11.10pm and 11.30pm on March 27, he was riding a yellow Honda CBR 900 RR with a female pillion passenger.
The police requested the motorcycle to stop but Sergeant, who was banned at the time, instead made off at high speed, travelling in excess of 70mph.
As the chase developed, Lancashire Police managed to stop the speeding biker with stingers as the defendant headed back towards the bypass, and a police car blocked the road.
However, there was then a minor collision between the bike and the police car.
Sergeant was arrested at the scene.
He pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous driving on Blackpool Road, driving whilst disqualified, and driving with no insurance.
Judge Dodd imposed an 18 month immediate jail term and ordered Sergeant must undergo an extended retest after his 33 month ban.
He must also pay a £140 surcharge.
