Preston knifepoint robberies probe leads to trial date for four men

Four men accused of offences linked to a string of armed robberies in shops in the Preston area will face a trial next year.

The allegations date back to November 2017, when four premises were subjected to knifepoint robberies.

Leon Harrison, 38, of George Street, Longridge, Preston, is accused of four counts of robbery and four of possessing a knife in a public place.

The first accusation relates to a knifepoint robbery at Sainsburys on Tag Lane in Ingol on November 2, 2017, in which cigarettes and cash were stolen.

The next is a robbery at the Spar in Much Hoole on November 2, 2017, which also saw cigarettes and cash stolen.

The third charge relates to a robbery at Thoroughgoods in Penwortham on November 19, 2017, and the fourth allegation is a robbery at Spar in Mardale Road, Longridge, on November 22, 2017, in which cash, cigarettes, alcohol and scratch cards were stolen.

Harrison's co-defendants - Wesley Macca Harriot, 28, of Bowlingfield, Ingol, Preston, Tyrese Harrison, 19, of Fishwick Parade, Preston, and Patrick Clifford, 30, of no fixed abode, are all accused of handling stolen National Lottery scratchcards from the alleged Longridge robbery, for the benefit of Leon Harrison, over a period between November 22 and 24, 2017.

Judge Heather Lloyd granted Leon Harrison and Patrick Clifford bail until their expected trial date of May 17, 2021.
