Preston doorman was bottled by reveller outside Switch nightclub

A reveller who hit a doorman with a glass bottle, leaving him with a deep cut, has been given a suspended jail term.

Harry Brown, of Larches Lane, Ashton-on-Ribble, Preston, admitted wounding door man Norvall Chambers on February 23.

Preston Crown Court heard police were called to the Switch nightclub in the city at around 3.30am.

Brown was “unsteady” on his feet and had been asked to leave by door staff.

The 25-year-old was allowed to finish his drink, but as he attempted to walk out with his bottle a doorman tried to stop him.

Brown struck the worker on the head with the bottle, causing a deep laceration to his forehead.

The defendant was given 12 months in jail, suspended for 24 months, with a 35 day rehabilitation activity, and 220 hours of unpaid work.

He must pay £2,000 compensation to his victim and a £149 victim surcharge.
