Preston child abuse accused to face trial next year

A Preston man who is accused of sexual offences involving a 13-year-old girl from Blackburn has appeared before a judge.

Venkat Rakesh Annapureddy, 26, of St George’s Road, Preston, is charged with inciting the girl to engage in sexual activity and facilitating the commission of a child sex offence.

It is alleged Annapureddy drove the child to a bed and breakfast - where he had previously booked a double room - with the intention of having sexual activity with her.

The court previously heard police were alerted by staff at the accommodation when they saw the girl.

Annapureddy has pleaded not guilty to the allegation.

A trial date has been set for March 16, 2021.
