Preston bridal boutique raided in night-time attack

A bridal boutique has become the latest Asian business to be targeted in a spate of burglaries in the same city neighbourhood.

Police are investigating after a determined intruder smashed his way into Chamak in Deepdale Road, Preston and got away with a large sum of cash.

Locals say the night-time raid is the sixth on Asian businesses there in the past five weeks. Police patrols have now been stepped up in the area.

The raid happened at around 3am on Sunday and was caught on the shop’s night vision CCTV system.

Neighbours were woken by the burglar leaving the property and raised the alarm. But police were unable to find anyone in the vicinity.

A police spokesman said: “From the end of February to today we have had six burglaries on businesses reported in that part of Deepdale.

“We have stepped up patrols in the area and we have been giving crime prevention advice to businesses.”
