Police were tonight investigating an incident in Longton, near Preston.
Witnesses said part of Liverpool Road was closed this afternoon.
An incident was believed to have taken place on the busy road shortly before 5pm.
Police confirmed that Liverpool Road had been closed but no more details have yet been released.
A villager said: “There were police all over the place. Looked like something serious had happened.”
Another Post reader said he saw a “blue light” incident near the Black Bull pub but wasn’t able to see what it was.
A spokesman for the Black Bull tonight said the incident had happened further down the road and was not connected with the pub.
Rumours are rife that an armed suspect was involved.
One Post reader said on social media: “The police knocked on my dad’s door to see if he had seen anything, apparently someone has been stabbed, and an arrest has been made.”
The incident is believed to have now ended and a statement is expected to be released by Lancashire police later.
