Police hunt gang after man attacked

Police are hunting a group of eight young men after an attempted robbery in a Preston park.

Officers say the incident happened at around 10pm last Thursday when a 33-year-old man was walking through Moor Park on his way home after a night out.

He was approached by a group of eight males who asked what part of Preston he was from before he was punched to the face, causing him to fall to the ground.

When he was on the floor, one member of the group tried to take the his wallet. The victim, who suffered a swollen nose and lip in the attack, challenged the offender, causing him to back away before the group made off from the scene.

Five of the offenders were white and three were Asian. All were described as being aged between 17 and 21-years-old.

The main offender is described as white, approximately 6ft 2ins tall, with short dark brown hair, a long thin face and wearing a grey tracksuit and white waist length jacket.

DC Nicola Barnes of Preston CID said: “This was an unprovoked attack on an innocent member of the public making their way home after a night out and I would urge anyone with any information at all to please to come forward.

“We are particularly keen to talk anyone who was near to the scene at the time of the incident who may have seen a group of males in the vicinity.”
