Police are looking for a woman who yelled abuse at a teenager on a bus in Lancaster.

The 17-year-old girl was travelling on the top deck of a Stagecoach bus in the city when the woman moved from a seat behind her to a seat in front of her.

The suspect hurled a torrent of abuse at the teenager, threatened her and instructed the teenager to get off the bus.

The upset girl then tried to get away and ring the bus bell but the suspect squared up to her and threatened her again before the teenager managed to break free and get off the bus.

The incident was captured on the on-board CCTV system and it left the teenager very upset and shaken up until several hours after the event.

PC 4179 Faye Tinker, from Lancaster and Morecambe Police, said: “We would appeal to the public in order to provide any information in regards to this incident and the identification of the suspect.

“Users of the public transport system should be able to go about their lives without fear of being threatened and intimidated.”

The incident happened aboard the 2A service on Torrisholme Road, at 1.45pm on Tuesday March 18.

The woman was white, in her late 20s to early 30s, about 5ft 5in, slim with dyed blonde hair tied up in a short ponytail and lightAlice style band. She had missing teeth and wore a black hooded top, blue jeans and black boots.
