Police dogs 'showered' in glass after brick thrown at car as officers deal with house party in Lancashire

Two police dogs were "showered" in glass after a person threw a brick at a police car as officers dealt with a report of a house party in Lancashire.

Police attended reports of a party taking place on Princess Street, Whitworth at around 2.25am today (Monday, April 20).

As officers dealt with the situation, a person threw a brick at the police car, resulting in the rear windscreen smashing.

Two dogs, PD Ebony and PD Cuzo from the Lancashire Police Dog Unit, were "showered" with glass as a result of the incident, but police have confirmed they were unharmed.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "We were called to reports of a party taking place at an address on Princess Street, Whitworth, and attended at around 2.25am this morning (Monday, April 20).

"We found a small gathering taking place. Three men were spoken to and all left the address willingly.

"An officer in attendance subsequently realised his van, which had been parked on an adjacent street, had had its rear window smashed.

"Two police dogs – PD Ebony and PD Cuzo - were inside the van at the time, but thankfully they weren’t harmed."

The police car had to be removed from service due to the severity of the damage.

No arrests have been made as of yet but enquiries are ongoing.
