Police car rammed by stolen Fiesta in late night hit and run getaway

A police car has been damaged after it was rammed by a stolen car during a hit and run getaway.

The stolen blue Fiesta ST had been pursued after officers detected that it was on false plates near Blackburn at around 10pm last night.

After being sighted, officers said the driver rammed the police car before speeding away on the A674 towards Brindle.

The Fiesta driver managed to lose the pursuing officers and no arrests were made.

No officers were injured in the hit and run collision.

After extensive searching, officers found the vehicle abandoned on a farm off a country lane near Brindle.

A police spokesman said: "After extensive searching, the vehicle was located out in the rurals abandoned on a farm.

"CSI will now work their magic.

"Thankfully only minor damage to both vehicles and no injuries to the officer."
