Detectives are appealing for information after a 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in Blackburn.

The incident happened around 4.30pm on Monday, November 9, when the teenager was walking through Corporation Park with two boys.

A man approached the group and asked for directions. As he shook their hands to thank them for their help he grabbed the girl and tried to kiss her.

She pushed him away and the group ran off.

The man is described as Asian, between 30 to 40-years-old, wearing long, dark coloured clothing and a black jacket or hoodie. He is described as having green eyes and a small goatee-style beard.

Detectives believe the offence could be linked to an incident last month involving a 15-year-old girl.

Around 4.30pm on Friday, October 16, the teenager was walking through Corporation Park near to the duck pond when she was approached by a male who indecently assaulted her.

The girl was able run off to her home address.

The man is described as Asian, aged in his late 20s to early 30s, around 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in tall and of slim build. He had a short beard.

It is also understood he was wearing a white shalwar kameez, a form of traditional dress.
