The parents of a toddler who fell from the window of a house have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect.

Emergency services were called to the home in Frenchwood, Preston, on Friday August 14, following reports that the child had fallen from a first-floor window.

The 20-month-old boy was taken to Royal Preston Hospital and then airlifted to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.

He was later transferred back to Preston.

The toddler is now recovering from his fall, and was expected to be discharged from hospital this week.

His parents described the youngster as “smiley and bubbly”, and said he was not expected to have any brain damage following what happened.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “Two people have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect and were bailed until November 2.

“We are looking into the circumstances around the fall and we are working with our partners in social care.”

Police were called to the terraced street at about 8.30am on Friday, August 14, by the ambulance service.

The toddler was airlifted to hospital with what was described as serious head injuries.
