A mum has been found guilty of £6,600 benefit fraud.

Jennifer Marie Barrow, 28, of Rothwell Road, Chorley, was convicted at Preston Magistrates Court of dishonestly obtaining Income Support, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit after failing to notify the Department for Work and Pensions and Chorley Council when her employed partner moved in with her.

She was given a 12-month community order, told to complete 240 hours of unpaid work, pay court costs of £150 and a victim surcharge of £60.

Coun Graham Dunn said it was an “excellent example” of the council and DWP working together to stop fraud.
