Men charged with robbery, assault, burglary and fraud after Lancashire crime spree

Two men have been charged by police investigating a number of burglaries and robberies in Accrington and Oswaldtwistle.

Detectives launched an investigation after a burglary, attempted burglary and robbery in Balmoral Road between April 11 and April 12.

Further incidents including a robbery in Catlow Hall Street on April 13, an aggravated burglary in Bishop Street on April 16, an assault and burglary in Royds Avenue on April 17 and a burglary in Belfield Road on April 17 were reported.

Following extensive enquiries two men were arrested by police on Friday (April 17) in connection with the investigation.

Jamie Lonsdale, 45, of no fixed address, was charged with three burglary offences, two robbery offences, an attempted burglary, fraud and an aggravated burglary.

Mark Swain, 43, of Wensley Road, Blackburn, was charged with two robbery offences, two burglary offences, an aggravated burglary, fraud, assault and attempted burglary.

Both appeared at Preston Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (April 18).
