Man's body is pulled from Preston Docks

A man's body has been recovered from the water at Preston Docks.

Police were called to the dockside this afternoon (Sunday, March 29) after reports that a body had been seen in the water.

Underwater search teams were mobilised and an investigation was launched.

This evening, Lancashire Police has confirmed that the body of a man has been recovered.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at around 1.40pm to the report that a body had been seen in the water there.

"Specialist officers attended and the body was removed.

"We can now confirm it is a man and we are in the process of trying to formally identify who he is.

"We appreciate that this may cause concern for local residents, however, we do not believe that the discovery is suspicious and we are in liaison with HM Coroner."
