Man who reportedly used 'garden shears' and 'knife' during two robberies in Preston arrested

A man has been charged following two robberies which were carried out less than 24 hours apart in Preston.

A man entered MX Pharmacy on Longridge Road with a pair of garden shears before demanding money from the till at around 1.30pm on Sunday, April 26.

He made off from the scene with around £70 in cash.

Less than 24 hours later, a man entered the One Stop shop on Ribbleton Avenue with a knife before making off from the scene with around £315 in cash at around 9.10am yesterday (Monday, April 27).

Police are treating the incidents as linked and as part of their enquires a 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery yesterday.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "Stuart Cheetham, 42, of no fixed address, has since been charged with robbery, possession of a bladed article and possession of an offensive weapon.

"He is due to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court this afternoon (Tuesday, April 28)."
