A MAN was seriously injured during a robbery as he walked home from a night out.

Police said the victim, a 23-year-old man, was walking through Avenham Park in Preston with his friend at 3am on Saturday when they were approached by three men who punched them both.

The men then stole the victim’s mobile phone before running off.

The victim suffered fractures to his face and a small bleed on the brain. He has since been discharged from hospital.

DC Rob Costigan of Preston CID said: “This was an unprovoked attack on two friends who were making their way home after a night out. Thankfully the man is recovering from his injuries and there are no adverse effects.

“We are trying to trace the men responsible for the attack and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or with any information about what happened to contact us.”
