A man who assaulted a Chorley woman, and was caught drink driving, without insurance, has been jailed for 18 weeks.

Russell James Cooper, 24, was involved in an incident in the town on November 9 last year.

Cooper, who gave his address as Station Road, Bolton, admitted the assault and motoring matters in a hearing at Chorley Magistrates’ Court.

The bench said the incident had been aggravated by his previous record of offending and banned him from the road for five years.

They also imposed a restraining order to protect his victim.
