Man in critical condition after being found at home with 'unexplained' head injury

A 35-year-old man is in a critical condition after he was at found at home with an 'unexplained' head injury.

Paramedics found Andrius Kadzevicius (pictured) unresponsive after they were called to a home in Crawford Street, Nelson at around 7.50pm on Wednesday (March 25).

Mr Kadzevicius had suffered a head injury and was rushed by ambulance to Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.

He was later transferred to Royal Preston Hospital, due to the severity of his injuries.

He was admitted with a suspected bleed on the brain and remains in a critical condition.

Later that evening, at around 10.55pm, hospital staff reported the man's injuries to police.

It is believed Mr Kadzevicius had left his home in Crawford Street on Tuesday evening and returned home on Wednesday.

Detectives are appealing for information about how Mr Kadzevicius suffered his injury and are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen him between 9.30pm on Tuesday (March 24) and 7pm on Wednesday (March 25).

Det Ch Insp Zoe Russo, of Lancashire’s Force Major Investigation Team (FMIT), said: "We are appealing for information to help trace the movements of a man found with an unexplained head injury in Nelson.

"At this time we are carrying out enquiries to establish how Andrius Kadzevicius sustained his injury.

"We understand individuals may be reluctant to come forward if they have not taken the current advice regarding staying at home but we would urge those individuals to make contact and provide information.

"Residents around Crawford Street and surrounding areaa may see detectives carrying out house to house enquiries.

"Those officers will be carrying identification and will conduct those enquiries safely in line with social distancing advice."
