A Lancashire man is facing a trial over allegations he made dangerous explosives in the resort of Morecambe.

AJ Lee Porter-Shaw, who has had addresses at Marine Road West, Morecambe, and Harrington Road, Heysham, near Lancaster, was remanded in custody at HMP Preston by Preston Magistrates’ Court during a short appearance to commit the case to Preston Crown Court.

The 28-year-old is accused of two counts under the Explosive Substances Act 1883 relating to a period before June 23 this year.

The first relates to a device involving a yellow duster cloth threaded through a bottle top, which it is alleged could be combined with a hydrocarbon fuel

The second relates to sulphur from match heads, which prosecutors allege could have been combined with a pyrotechnic liquid in a bottle in a holdall.

Porter-Shaw is next expected to appear on November 17.
