Police were called at around 5:30pm on Friday, July 13 to reports that a man in his 40s had been allegedly attacked by a group of men with an axe in Moor Park, Preston.

The man suffered a cut to his hand and suspected head injuries. He was taken to hospital to receive treatment and was released later that day, say police.

An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

Aqib Uddin, 18, of Cam Street, Preston has now been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent. He will appear before Preston Magistrates’ Court on Monday July 16.

Insp Ellie Kanoun of Preston Police, said: “I would like to thank members of the public who shared our initial appeal. If you have any information at all which could help, and haven’t already spoken to us, please come forward.”
