Man assaulted by teenage gang yob wielding chair

Police are appealing for help after a man was seriously assaulted with a chair.

The incident happened as the 27-year-old man as he walked home in Morecambe.

He left a relative’s house about 5.30pm on Sunday and was targeted by a group of teenagers, shouting abuse at him

When the man shouted a comment back, the group cycled off. However, one of the lads returned after going into a house and coming out armed with a chair.

He struck the victim so hard with the chair that it broke.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment to cuts and bruises.

DC Stephen Craig said: “This is a very nasty assault and it is important that we are very keen to trace all of those involved.

“If anyone saw what happened or has any other information that they think could assist then I would urge them to contact us on 101.”

Four boys aged 13 to 16 were arrested and bailed.
