Man arrested on suspicion of murder following 'unexplained' death

A man who died in Preston in 'unexplained' circumstances had been found with a head injury two days before his death.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of Jonathan Palgrave, 35, who died at Royal Preston Hospital on Sunday, May 20.

Mr Palgrave had been found outside The Clifton Hotel in Fishergate with a head injury on Friday.

He collapsed two days later and officers were called to the hotel at 8.20pm.

He was taken by ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital where later died.

Detectives from Lancashire police's major investigation team is now trying to establish the circumstances surrounding Mr Palgrave’s death.

Detective chief inspector Richard McCutcheon said: “We are following a number of lines of inquiry to try and establish what happened in the days before Jonathan died.

“We would ask anyone who might have seen Jonathan or has any information about him to speak to us as we continue our investigation.”
