Man arrested on suspicion of money laundering after ‘£100k in cash’ found hidden in boot of car on M6 near Leyland

A man was arrested after £100k was found inside a car on the M6 near Leyland.

A Kia Sportage travelling through Lancashire caught the attention of police on Tuesday afternoon (July 12).

The car was subsequently stopped close to junction 28 (Leyland) at around 5.15pm.

£100k in cash which had been hidden under the floor in the boot was found by officers after a quick search of the vehicle.

A 32-year-old man from Birmingham was promptly arrested on suspicion of money laundering.

“Enquiries are ongoing,” a spokesman for Lancashire Police said.
