Man arrested after 'woman held hostage' with knife in Lostock Hall

A man has been arrested after he allegedly held a woman hostage with a knife in Lostock Hall, say police.

Police were called to Watkin Lane after a silver Mercedes crashed into a wall just before 3am on Monday, April 9.

According to police, the man, who is in his 30s, entered a property and is alleged to have held a knife to the throat of woman at the property.

The Road Policing Unit and police dogs attended the scene where the man is alleged to have made threats with the knife before retreating to another room.

Force Incident Manager, Martin Bishop said: "A man has been arrested following the incident. Thankfully nobody was injured.

"This was a successful outcome to what could have been a horrendous situation."

A spokesman for Lancashire Road Police said in a post to Twitter: "Team 4 tacops signing off after a busy tour, ending with disarming a male holding a female hostage with a knife to her throat.

"Rpu and dog unit working together to bring the incident to a safe conclusion."

Police say the incident lasted for around 5 minutes.

The man was arrested but was later transferred to hospital for treatment.
