Man arrested after 500 cannabis plants seized in Accrington drugs bust

A man was arrested after attempting to flee the scene of a drugs raid in Accrington.

Police acting on intelligence from the public raided an address in Ormerod Street on Monday night (December 14).

More than 500 cannabis plants and a "sophisticated cultivation set-up" was discovered by officers upon entry. It was also found the electricity had been bypassed.

An Albanian man, who reportedly attempted to flee the scene, was also arrested by police. He is currently in custody for questioning.

PS Corbett, of the Hyndburn Neighbourhood Policing team, said: "This is another fantastic effort by PC Dutton and team who's tenacity and commitment is clear having disrupted numerous similar set-ups in recent months.

"Unfortunately this is an ever emerging threat in our communities and we ask the public to continue in their support for our efforts, we will always act on any community intelligence received."
