A man who was charged in connection with a shocking attack on a 92-year-old man in his own home has made his first appearance before the courts.
Andrew Young, of Aqueduct Road, Blackburn, faces one count of committing burglary in a dwelling with violence.
The 44-year-old defendant indicated no pleas to the offence during a brief hearing before Preston Magistrates’ Court.
The bench committed the case to Preston Crown Court where he will next appear on March 14.
He will be remanded in custody in the meantime.
Police said the elderly victim was attacked and robbed at his home in the Lytham Road area of Preston at around 1.30pm on Saturday, when it is alleged a man approached the address demanding money for work done to the property.
After the homeowner refused, he was attacked and robbed.
He was left with a serious injury to his right arm, as well as a swelling to his right hand.
