A review of the licence at a city centre takeaway has been delayed for over a month.

Police asked Preston Council to look into Pizza City in Friargate, having been called to the premises last year.

On one occasion a former worker was found to be causing nuisance, demanding money from the owner.

In April, immigration officials raided the takeaway, and three men were arrested for being in the country without visas.

The grounds for the review from the police is that the premises is ‘not promoting the crime prevention licensing objectives.’

A licencing committee meeting was supposed to be held yesterday, but will now take place on February 28.

A council spokesman said: “The owner is in the process of selling the business and then the licence and conditions will pass to the new owner.”
