Hayden Carroll, 27, of Alder Close, Leyland, put his hands over the youngster's face and nose before raging and throwing clothing around during an incident in a house in South Ribble, Preston Crown Court was told.
Carroll, who has 31 convictions for 59 offences, pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm to the youngster, who cannot be named for legal reasons, as well as assaulting a woman on the same date.

"The victim was vulnerable and of course a weapon was used. It was also a fairly sustained incident.
"But it was not just an ordinary section 47 assault - the victim was a child."
Carroll appeared to cry in the dock as she added: "You turned on her in the most malicious way because you were under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
"You caused a nosebleed and you threw items at her.

The court heard the attack happened after the defendant, who was on prison licence for a robbery, had been "drinking all day and sleeping all night".
Prosecuting, Joshua Bowker said Carroll became irate with the child.
Prosecutors say he lost his temper when a woman tried to defend the girl, and had pushed the woman in the chest, pushing her head under a kitchen tap and slapping her face three times.
