Police are continuing to hunt for a number of weapons stolen during a house break-in in Penwortham.

Lee Hewitt, 21, and Daniel Little, 18, from Preston, have been jailed for a total of 41 months following the burglary at Little’s stepfather’s house in Stanley Grove, Penwortham.

Preston Crown Court heard the householder returned home at around 2pm on August 2 to find two windows had been smashed at the rear of his house.

The house had been searched and a safe was damaged, although the burglars had been unable to gain access.

However two air rifles, an archery bow, electrical items and games, with a combined value of £2,000, had been taken.

Forensic examinations by scene of crime officers revealed both Hewitt and Little’s fingerprints to be present at the property.

The pair, both of Avenham Road, Preston, pleaded guilty to burglary in a dwelling at an earlier hearing at Preston Crown Court.

The weapons have never been recovered and police are appealing for anyone with information about their whereabouts to contact them.

PC Hanif Patel said: “I hope this case sends a warning to criminals that burglary is treated seriously by both the police and the courts.

“We recognise that burglaries have a significant impact on victims and we will continue to focus our activities on those people who persistently commit burglary so we can further reduce the number of victims affected by these crimes.

“Two air rifles and an archery bow that were stolen during the burglary remain outstanding.

“I would ask anyone with any information about these weapons to contact the police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
