LATEST: Five people arrested after man stabbed in Preston

Five people have been arrested after a man was stabbed in Preston city centre yesterday.

Police were called to Lowthian Street at around 5pm yesterday afternoon over reports of a fight behind the Black Horse pub.

An 18-year-old man was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with a single stab wound to his stomach and is now in a serious condition.

Five males from Preston aged between 13 to 25 have been arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent and are currently in custody.

Det Insp Richard McCutcheon, of Lancashire Police, said: “This was a violent attack which has left a man in a serious condition in hospital.

“We are appealing for witnesses and would urge anybody with information to contact police.”
