Thief trespassed in two city properties

A would be burglar was caught trying to enter two buildings in the city on the same day, a court has heard.

John Hutton, 52, of Dovedale Avenue, Ingol, Preston, entered a property on February 13 on Starr Gate Drive, Ashton-on-Ribble, Preston.

The 52-year-old also entered Discount Booze and Wine, also situated on Starr Gate Drive.

He has since two counts of trespassing with intent to steal.

The defendant appeared before Preston Magistrates Court, where he was sentenced to a community order and a rehabilitation activity requirement.

The bench also ordered Hutton to carry out 40 hours of unpaid work.

He must also pay a £85 victim surcharge and £85 costs at a rate of £5 a week.

The magistrates said his guilty plea had been taken into account.

Driver’s drug wipe refusal led to fine

A motorist refused to let officers use a drug detection wipe when he was pulled over, a court has heard.

Darren Martin Conroy, of Ambleside Road, Lancaster, would not co-operate with officers during an incident on September 24.

The 27-year-old driver pleaded guilty to failing to co-operate with a preliminary drug wipe.

The bench at Preston Magistrates’ Court heard the wipes were used to detect cocaine or cannabis use.

The motorist was ordered to pay an £80 fine, a £30 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

Conroy had attended to enter his plea but left the court before the case had finished and was sentenced in his absence.

He was given four penalty points on his driving licence.

Rafal Miloszewski, 33, of Oxford Street, Preston, admits possessing amphetamine and must pay an £80 fine, £30 surcharge and £85 costs.

Darren Towey, 43, of Kingfisher Street, Preston, was given a curfew after being found guilty of criminal damage to a door and must pay £450 compensation.

Elizabeth Despard, 24, of Elm Grove, Ribbleton, Preston, got a curfew after admitting causing actual bodily harm to a woman and assaulting, and must pay an £85 surcharge and £85 costs.

Jason Melling, 24, of Alston Street, Ribbleton, Preston, was discharged for 12 months after admitting being drunk and disorderly and must pay a £20 surcharge and £85 costs.

Louis William Parker, 36, of The Martindales, Clayton-le-Woods, Chorley, admits stealing camping chairs and must pay a £40 fine, £30 surcharge, £16 compensation and £85 costs.

Robert Rogerson, 41, of Beech Drive, Preston, was banned for 20 months after admitting drink driving and must pay a £368 fine, £36 surcharge and £85 costs.

Shaun Allonby, 30, of Alert Street, Ashton-on-Ribble, Preston, was discharged for 12 months after admitting stealing 11 scaffold poles and must pay a £20 surcharge.

Siobhan Winston, 31, of Hazelhurst Drive, Garstang, was found guilty of using a phone while driving and must pay a £200 fine and £85 costs.

Adrian Sykes, 48, of Haylot Square, Lancaster, was found guilty of failing to give driver ID and must pay a £660 fine, £66 surcharge and £85 costs.
