Lancaster high school worker admits stealing almost £36,000 from employers

A former school worker has admitted stealing tens of thousands of pounds from a high school over a four year period.

Joanne Sowerby, 46, of Chapel View, Overton, Morecambe, worked at Central Lancaster High School.

She appeared before Preston Magistrates' Court where she admitted theft by an employee between August 2014 and October 2018 of £35,949.40.

According to a school newsletter, the former office manager left in 2018 after joining the school in 2005 as a receptionist.

Her case was committed for sentencing to Preston Crown Court, where she will appear on October 26.
