Hotel in drugs raid

A MAN was found in possession of heroin after a police raid at the Clifton Hotel in Preston.

Lee Rigby, 43, of Fishergate Hill, Preston, who admits the charge, was found lying on the floor with two tenants during the raid.

Preston magistrates heard that he took a packet of brown powder from his pocket and said: “It’s heroin”.

He must pay a £37 fine, £20 surcharge, £85 costs and a £150 court charge.

PRESTON: Andrzej Hinz, 40, of Watling Street Road, Fulwood, received 10 weeks suspended for 12 months after admitting breaching a restraining order by contacting a woman. 
Preston magistrates heard he has a “substantial” record for breaching orders and he must pay an £80 surcharge, £85 costs and a £180 court charge.

PRESTON: A man who stole £50 from a man has been ordered to have drug treatment by Preston magistrates.

John Paul Cheetham, 38, of London Road, Preston, admits theft between August 21 and September 5 this year.

He must pay a £35 fine and £50 compensation, the bench ruled.

CHORLEY: A man who admits he stole £317 of National Lottery scratchcards from a Tesco store in Chorley must pay a £130 fine.

Ryan Hirst, 22, of Aycliffe Drive, Buckshaw Village, must also pay a £20 surcharge.

PRESTON: A man who failed to keep his spaniel on a lead and failed to give his details to council officers has been discharged for 18 months after pleading guilty.

David Ryan, 32, of Cowley Road Ribbleton, Preston was spotted in May with the animal off the leash.

He must pay a £15 surcharge and £150 court charge.

PRESTON: A man who sent an abusive message has been given a restraining order.

Michael Westworth, 42, of Duke Street, Preston, sent the message on July 17, Preston magistrates heard.

The bench ordered him to pay a £40 fine, £20 victim surcharge, £100 costs and a £150 court charge.

PRESTON: Dwayne Barnes, 24, of Suffolk Road, Preston, is to be sentenced at Preston Crown Court on October 20 after admitting damaging a woman’s property in a domestic violence incident which happend on August 5.

Paul Hope, 31, of Millbank Court, Preston, was discharged for 12 months after admitting stealing vodka, and must pay a £15 surcharge and £150 court charge.

Robert Starling, 38, of Sefton Road, Morecambe, stole meat and must pay a £200 fine, a £20 surcharge.

Elena Marcu, 54, of Malthouse Way, Penwortham, was found guilty of failing to give driver information, and must pay a £660 fine, £66 surcharge, and £85 costs.

Jarrad Jacklin, 21, of Mount Avenue, Lancaster, admits driving without insurance and must pay a £120 fine, £20 surcharge, and £85 costs.

Simon Menelaws, 36, of Downham Road, Leyland, got a six-month discharge after admitting stealing cleaning products and coffee, but must pay £39.91 compensation, £15 surcharge and a £150 costs.

Emma Gorman, 33, of Fishergate Hill, Preston, admits being drunk and disorderly and must pay a £35 fine, £20 surcharge and £150 court charge.

Thomas Thornley, 25, of Tulketh Crescent, Ashton-on-Ribble, was discharged for 12 months after being found guilty of damaging a police car bonnet, but must pay £100, plus £100 costs and a £520 court charge.

Shaun Carberry, 44, of Bleasdale Close, Bamber Bridge, was found guilty of failing to give driver information, and must pay a £660 fine, £66 surcharge, and £85 costs.

Anthony Speariett, 31, of West Cliff, Preston, admits stealing chocolate and must pay a £150 court charge.

Michael Bailey, 37, of Albyn Bank Road, Avenham, Preston, admits possessing diamorphine and was ordered to have drug treatment and pay a £60 surcharge and £180 court charge.

Donald Gallaway, 66, of Ryelands Road, Lancaster, was found guilty of failing to give driver information, and must pay a £660 fine, £66 surcharge, and £85 costs.
