Tipping, 36, stabbed his parents Anthony Tipping, 60, and Patricia Livesey, 57, to death at their Cann Bridge Street home in Higher Walton on November 20 2021.

Tipping, who admits manslaughter but denies murder, says he acted in self defence when he stabbed his father 165 times during an argument.

The prosecution argued that he knew what he was doing when he killed his parents, while the defence said he was ‘not as mentally well as many’, and that the killing occurred during a period when he had stopped taking his schizophrenia medication.

Jurors were sent out to consider their verdict on Tuesday following a three-week hearing, which was disrupted by Covid-19. They resumed their discussions this morning.
