A radio presenter from Leyland has told of his shock after e-mail scammers sent messages to 350 friends - including musician Jools Holland - claiming he had been mugged in the Ukraine.

Dave Scott Gilson, 66, who presents on community station Preston FM, was stunned when worried friends and family contacted him saying they had received messages that he needed cash to be sent to him.

Dave, who wants to warn others, said: “Jools sent a message back along the lines of “What a load of rubbish’ but more strongly worded!

“But luckily everyone knew it was fake as I would never use the phrase ‘cell phone’.”
