Investigation underway after two cats rescued from house fire in Padiham

Fire crews rushed to a house fire on Altham Street in Padiham at around 3.53am today (February 28).

Three fire engines from Burnley and Hyndburn attended the scene.

Two cats were rescued from the blaze by firefighters.

They were given oxygen therapy before being handed over in to the care of the RSPCA.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue said: "Three fire engines from Burnley and Hyndburn were called to a house fire on Altham Street, Padiham.

"Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and two ventilation units to extinguish the fire.

"The cause of the fire is under investigation."
