Police want witnesses to come forward after a 29-year-old woman was found injured in Preston city centre.

At around 12.50am on Monday, November 9, the victim had been drinking in Church Street, then she began walking towards the railway station with a man she had just met.

Minutes later she was found injured on the pavement on Butler Street by a passerby. She was taken to hospital with a fractured eye socket and significant bruising.

Detectives are trying to piece together exactly what happened to the woman and how she came to be hurt.

DC Simon Lochhead said: “The woman has suffered a serious injury to her eye and her body and is extremely shaken up. We are keen to trace the man pictured who we believe was with the victim minutes before. It may be that he has some vital information that could help us with our inquiries.”

The man is white, around 40 to 50 years old, medium build, has short hair and was wearing a black coat, blue jeans and shiny white trainers.
