Hooded thieves attack Preston tanning salon worker with metal bar

A tanning salon worker has been attacked with a metal bar after she refused to give up her handbag.

Two hooded men entered the DialEmma's tanning and hair studio in Fylde Road, near Water Lane, at 5.30pm on Saturday December 8.

The men, who also had their faces covered, approached a woman on the front desk and ordered her to hand over her handbag.

The woman refused and one of the men tried to snatch the bag from her.

A struggle ensued and the woman fell to the floor where the man launched a violent attack on her. The thief kicked her and struck her with a metal pole as she lay on the floor, before a member of the public bravely intervened.

The man was pulled off the woman and he and his accomplice fled the scene in the direction of Fleetwood Street and then on to Steeple View.

The victim suffered bruising and was left shaken by the attack, but wasn't seriously injured.

DC Fabian Spence of Preston Police “Thanks to the member of the public who intervened, the victim was not seriously harmed and the offenders didn’t manage to get away with anything.

“But this must have been very frightening for those involved and we need to find the people responsible.”
