A woman has been killed in a suspected hit and run - but police don’t know who she is.
Officers need help tracing the woman’s next of kin following the fatal collision at 10.50pm on Tuesday on a rural stretch of Preston New Road, Clifton.
The woman was found lying in the road and died a short time later in hospital. She is described as white, aged between 16 and 22, approximately 5ft 10ins and of slim build with long dark hair that would come to the middle of her back and it appears to have feathers woven into it. She was wearing black Nike trainers, jeans and a grey hooded top.
Sgt Sean Cunningham said: “This is a tragic incident where a young woman has sadly passed away after what appears to be some kind of collision. We are still trying to determine exactly what has happened and how the woman has come to be injured.”
A 26-year-old man from Lytham St Annes was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of an accident. He was released on bail on Wednesday afternoon to report back to police in May.
