Police searched through the night for a wanted man after his car was found abandoned on a remote pub car park.
Officers called in a helicopter to help scour the countryside around Marsh Lane, Longton near Preston in the early hours of Monday.
The missing man, wanted for questioning about a domestic incident, is believed to have left his car at the Dolphin Inn and vanished.
Police say they initially followed up reports that he could be injured in a ditch.
Fire crew from Penwortham, with a specialist boat team, were called out after it was feared the man could have gone into the River Ribble. But they were stood down shortly after reaching the scene.
A police spokesperson said: “We were searching for a man who was believed to have been in a ditch. We searched the land around Marsh Lane, but we couldn’t find him.
“His car was parked on the pub car park, but there was no sign of him.
“Since then we have been informed he is fine and hasn’t come to any harm, although we are still trying to trace him.
“He is wanted for questioning about some domestic-related incident.”
