Headlock attack for mobile phone

A man has been attacked on Morecambe promenade by a thief after his mobile phone.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the attempted robbery that tool place between 3am and 4am on Saturday, July 12, between Highfield Crescent and Regent Road.

The victim, a 27-year-old man from Heysham, was approached by the offender who put him in a headlock and punched him in the head before taking the victim’s phone from his pocket. The victim then tried to grab his phone back but it was dropped by the offender and damaged.

The offender is described as a male aged in his mid-twenties, 5ft 8in tall with a tanned or dark complexion and short black hair and is possibly Eastern European. He was wearing a t-shirt, shorts and trainers.

DC Mike O’Reagan said a number of taxis were travelling through the area at the time.
