A man received almost £15,000 he wasn’t entitled to when he failed to reveal his wife was working and also had a civil service pension.

Father-of-four Christopher Gerrard was placed on a 12 week curfew when he admitted three offences of fraud at Blackpool magistrates court.

Gerrard, of Avenham Place, Newton, near Kirkham, received £14,816 in benefits. Malcolm Cartwright, defending, said Gerrard was under an “incorrect impression” of what had to be declared.
