Four arrests made after teenage boy was stabbed in Preston

Detectives investigating a stabbing in Preston which has left a teenage boy critically injured have made four arrests.

Officers were called to an address in Chatham Place at 5.43pm on Wednesday (December 23) where the 16-year-old boy was found with stab injuries to his chest and legs.

He was initially treated at the scene but was later transferred to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Following a number of enquiries, officers made four arrests yesterday (December 24) as part of the investigation.

A 16-year-old boy from Preston and an 18-year-old man from Leyland have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder; a 17-year-old boy from Preston has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder; and a 36-year-old woman from Leyland has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. They are all currently in custody.

DCI Jane Webb, of the Force Major Investigation Team, said: “First and foremost my thoughts remain with the young victim in this case who remains critically ill in hospital. His family are being supported by specially-trained officers at this difficult time.

“While we have now made a number of arrests, our enquiries remain very much ongoing and I would ask anybody with information, CCTV or dashcam footage which could assist with this inquiry to come forward.

“Although we believe this was a targeted attack, there will continue to be a visible police presence in the area and reassurance patrols have been increased.”
