Two suspicious fires at a derelict Preston pub in the space of 12 hours are being investigated by police.
Officers are viewing CCTV footage to identify who may have started the blazes at the notorious former Balmoral Hotel in Manchester Road.
Crews were called to the boarded up building, which ended its days as the Beat Street Cafe Bar, during the early hours of yesterday and again during the afternoon.
“It looks like someone has got in at the rear and started a fire during the night and same again in the afternoon,” said crew manager Robin Barker.
“Apart from tying up three fire engines and causing a threat to adjacent buildings, it puts our crews at risk going into buildings like that with missing floorboards and other hazards. The police are taking this very seriously.”
