A football coach has been sent to crown court to face 18 charges involving children.
Anthony Chattell, of Fulwood Heights, Fulwood, Preston, who worked at several clubs across Lancashire, appeared before the city’s magistrates on Tuesday, and was remanded on bail to appear before Preston Crown Court in two weeks’ time.
Dressed in a grey coat, the 27-year-old spoke only to confirm his name and address.
Chattell is accused of charges including sexual assault on a girl aged 13 to 15, attempting to facilitate the commission of a child sex offence, causing or inciting a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity, harassment, causing a child aged 13 to 15 to watch an image of sexual activity, and other offences involving indecent photographs of children.
The charges relate to seven girls and are alleged to have been committed between February 2008 and December 2014.
Chattell was granted bail on condition he does not access social media sites, has no contact with his alleged victims, or any unsupervised contact with under-18s. He will appear before a judge on April 21 to enter pleas on all 18 charges.
